Students in health-related fields who need hospital shadowing placement hours can now do so while earning academic credit abroad! Starting Summer 2025, the programs are available in Madrid and Rome. In our 4-week module, students complete 60 hours of observational ‘hands-in-pockets’ placement while taking a 3-credit CEA CAPA course designed to supplement the hospital shadowing experience. The course will give students the foundational background and reflective framework they need to get the most from their time observing. Those looking for more time abroad or a higher courseload can opt for an additional 4 weeks of study to create an 8-week program and earn up to 9 total credits. Spaces on these programs are extremely limited!
Summer program options in Madrid are expanding! A new 4-week program will be available starting in June 2025, and course options include Mass Media & the Fashion Industry, Spanish Civilization & Culture, Sustainable Development and more! Moreover, we're continuing to add new semester course options at the CEA CAPA Madrid Study Center to meet the needs of a variety of academic majors.
Dublin is pleased to introduce a new Theatre Arts summer program for theatre majors. Unlike most programs, which are focused exclusively on performance, theatre students in Dublin will choose to focus on either acting or technical theatre. Participants from both groups will join together to create a final performance showcase at the end of this 6-week, 6-credit program. The program is also offered in the spring semester where students will find the Irish cultural theme of storytelling woven throughout expanded course offerings in Business, Communications, and more.
Service Learning at CEA CAPA is being renamed to Community Engaged Global Learning! This reflects a shift in academic discourse around this type of class. Service Learning is sometimes seen or perceived as implying that the relationship involved is one-way, with the student providing service to address a local need. Community Engaged learning changes the narrative to reflect a reciprocal relationship between the student and the local community, wherein the student is also a recipient of value: they gain knowledge, experience and insight that would be unavailable to them without the welcome of the host organization. The course is offered during the semester at the CEA CAPA Study Centers in Barcelona and Seville.
CEA CAPA is proud to announce two new Winter Quarter programs at the CEA CAPA Study Centers in Sydney and Prague. These programs were developed in collaboration with several key partners and are tailored to complement the academic calendar and offer unique study abroad opportunities during a period that's traditionally been underserved. Starting Spring 2026, we’re adding a Study + Internship option in Sydney, allowing students to swap one of the courses for an internship seminar and complete a placement in a variety of career fields.
Program features include:
London and Prague each
offer an internship program option with a later summer start. The internship is accompanied by the Global Internship Course to help students learn how to articulate the value of their internship through the lens of NACE Career Readiness Competencies.
A wide range of internship career fields are available including business, communication, design, performing arts, political science, and more!
CEA CAPA is proud to offer a career-focused course in our semester and summer portfolio. This hands-on course places students into small consulting teams to engage in project-based learning with business enterprises abroad. In addition to weekly class instruction, students meet regularly with clients to generate solutions to real-world business problems. Students complement the Business Consulting course with additional electives. The course is available at our CEA CAPA Study Centers in the following locations, with each offering a different emphasis:
We are exited to offer FYE Abroad programs in each of our 11 Study Center locations: Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Dublin, Florence, London, Madrid, Paris, Prague, Rome, Seville, and Sydney. Rooted in U.S. higher education best practices, first-year experiences are valuable high-impact practices that set U.S. institutions apart while supporting student development and academic success.
Our FYE course portfolio includes over 40 courses all pedagogically tailored for a first-year audience, and includes options such as First Year Composition, Pre-Calculus, and introductory courses in Psychology, Philosophy, and Environmental Studies. Additionally, each program destinations offers distinctive courses that explore relevant topics through the lens of the host city allowing students to learn more about the city in which they’re living and studying. We can also develop new courses to address unique academic needs and to help set students on a seamless path to a timely graduation.
By partnering with CEA CAPA, U.S. institutions have access to our cohort model in which institutions share courses, housing, and co-curricular programming with other first-year programs. Whether it's for the fall or spring semester, we are here to help you make your institution stand apart. Click here for more information.
